While Billy is mostly driven by passion throughout Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson ’s comic , no one could really see just how far that rage would take him . This conduct to one of the most heartbreaking moments in the comic , when Butcher kill one of his secure friends .

Butcher’s Lust For Revenge Goes Deeper Than Anyone Knew

Instead of being happy that Homelander is at long last deadened , Butcher instead turns his tending to every other Supe on Earth . Butcher has a design to kill every Supe , but his first order of business is to kill his friends . Because the majority of his friends , like Mother ’s Milk River , the Female , and Frenchie , all have Compound - V inside of them , they have to be killed in Butcher ’s genocide as well . Wanting to spare them that miserableness , and seeing how far he ’s fall , Butcher thinks it ’s best to just kill them quickly and painlessly .
The Boys season 4 finale sees Billy Butcher take a grim play , and the first step minutes of the episode bode him becoming the baddie .
This does n’t really mould out . Butcher is n’t able to catch Mother ’s Milk by surprise , as he ’s already figured out what Butcher is up to . This leads to a full - vaunt fight between the two , with Mother ’s Milk River demanding to know what ’s ill-timed with Butcher and why he ’s doing this . It ’s here that Butcher makes the heartbreaking confession that defines his grapheme . He admits that Mother ’s Milk is the best mate he could ever ask for , but someone like Butcher does n’t have mate . With that , he quickly shove a grenade in Mother ’s Milk ’s aspect , fatally injuring him .

The death of his wife , Becca , was one of the worst things to ever take place to Butcher . He in a flash admits that without her , he is just an animal looking for a fight , for a post to go . Butcher serve in the Falklands War , and he ’s someone whoneedsa war . It was only through Becca that he experience he could be someone else , that he might actually be a skillful military personnel . When he lost her , he decided to initiate one final war , against all Supes on Earth . This intend he did n’t need friends , he needed soldiers , and that ’s exactly what he recruited . While the quietus of the Boys grow into a family , Butcher is always on the exterior .
Butcher has a history of disassociating during his greatest moments of fierceness . This is especially show during his murder of Jack from Jupiter inThe Boys#59 .
Butcher had a difficult puerility , growing up under a savagely abusive fatherand accept to go through the death of his younger brother . This caused Butcher to harden his heart , which was only further compound by his fourth dimension in the armed services . Butcher knows how to kill someone , and he can do it regardless of what his personal feelings towards them are . The entire time , Jack is begging for his living , pleading his innocence , and Butcher simply ignore him . It ’s not that Butcher does n’t conceive Jack or anything like that , but Butcher excuse that he ’s not even the one obliterate him .
As Butcher knife thrust Jack over and over , he continually repeats,“It ’s not me , I ’m not here . " This statement shows just how terrifyingly efficacious he is at divorce on command . He even mention that he ’s not the one stabbing Jack , he ’s but watch it happen from somewhere else . This ability to totally unplug himself from his emotions is the same trait that allows him to kill Mother ’s Milk . Heknowswhat he ’s doing is malevolent and wrong , but he ca n’t stop , because he ’s not the one doing it .
Butcher Cements Himself As A Monster When He Kills Mother’s Milk
The Mission Always Comes First For Butcher
It ’s a remarkably lamentable encounter . During the full serial , Butcher is mostly frigid and stays aside from the other members of the Boys . Butcher expend the most time with Hughie , and there ’s no denying that he does respect and care for all of them , but he is deliberate to never gettooclose . There are also batch of moments that showcase his willingness to manipulate and use them , despite his incontrovertible tactile sensation towards them . For example , he manipulates the mathematical group into getting disturbed at Hughie , which ostracizes him from the group .

At his core , Butcher is a soldier , and he always has been . Once he sets his intellect on a missionary work , he will accomplish it , and nothing will contain him . It ’s because of this exit that Butcher just returned to what he knew best : fight warfare . He ’s perfectly capable of view the other mass in his biography as people , know that they ’re good or unsound , but he but ca n’t stop himself from using them as soldiers to succeed the warfare he ’s constantly press .

Butcher’s War Against Supes Doesn’t Need To Keep Going
The bad tragedy ofThe Boys’storyline is not just that Supes are almost always corrupt and awful people , it ’s that just about anyone can be corrupted by their nonsuch . While Butcher may very well have started with the purpose of only killing Homelander , over meter , he creates this unexampled state of war that can only be finished when every Supe on Earth is numb . There ’s no reason to go that far . He could terminate after Homelander ’s last , butButcherwill never cease until the war is won , even if that means killing every other member ofThe Boys .
