The writers needed a way to write Jesse Lee Soffer off the show after he requested to leave , so they created a plot line that would make him leave Chicago . While it ’s overnice that the writers pick out not to kill him off as they did with Alvin Olinsky ( Elias Koteas ) , it did n’t stay true to the character that buff knew and roll in the hay .
Soffer first appeared onChicago Fire . He then went on to star inChicago PD . He was a former military sniper who render home to give care for his female parent when she had Crab . He ’s been a fan favourite in two favorite relationships , Erin Lindsey ( Sophia Bush ) and Hailey Upton ( Tracy Spiridakos ) . It was a surprisal when Soffer announcedhe was leaving the showafter being a prominent fixture for almost 10 seasons .

Jay Was Always A Boy Scout
Jay Halstead never likedhow Hank Voight ( Jason Beghe ) did things . In the former season , he did mention his dislike of Voight ’s methods to his colleagues but did n’t confront him until by and by . Jay ’s mistrust was always apparent , though . He would ask for more selective information when he knew Voight was hold up back . He hated when Erin stood by Voight after he killed his son ’s killer . Jay did n’t want Erin to go down with Voight . There were nine seasons of Jay disapproving of Voight ’s ways , so it does n’t make sense that he changed his personality and path of doing the job so quickly .
From the beginning , Antonio Dawson ( Jon Seda ) was the one press back at Voight when he was going over the edge — not that Voight always listen . After Dawson leftChicago PDin time of year 6 , Halstead became the person on the team that pushed back . have someone push back against Voight balanced the show out when Voight would go rogue . It made sense that Halstead stepped into thatrole after Dawson left .
Jay Made Into A Voight In Training, And It Didn’t Ring True
In Halstead ’s last scene , he says to Voight he wants to be like Voight , but Voight has separate him he is n’t and should n’t try . While he admits he was n’t like Voight , it ’s surprising , after so many years of campaign against Voight , that he suddenly want to be like his hirer . Halstead was good police that never crossed any line until Hailey Upton was call for in Voight ’s peck .
In time of year 10 , Halstead started drop a batch of time with Voight , on and off the job . He backed every call Voight made and even lie to Hailey , say he was working deep when acquire a drunkenness with Voight . It was like the writers were making him into Voight ’s protégé . It was strange interpret Halstead do a 180 from the man who disagreed with the mode Voight did the job .
It ’s a pity howChicago PDwrote Jay Halstead off the show . Jay would never give his wife and move away . or else , he would seek to make things cultivate . While it may be good quality development for Hailey , it bankrupt Jay ’s characterfor his time on the show .
