Evenas a dictator of Latveria , Doctor Doomhas a perverted sense of honor , but it is still rooted in his belief that he is superior to everyone else , so why does the Celestial pass him ? Professor Xavier , Daredevil and many other heroes have failed their examination , but Doom - of all multitude - somehow passes .
In recent stories , Doctor Doom turn out his willingness to mold with hero sandwich to demolish magnanimous threat ( seeDark Agesfor just one example ) . That does not invalidate his murder or actions as a potentate , however , and Marvel can not set him as an antihero without acknowledging his nefarious past tense . Doctor Doomis responsible for many atrocities in the Marvel Universe ( and isnot simply a villain for the Fantastic Four ) , but Marvel ’s use of the Celestial suggests the fellowship is placing him in the same family as Venom : a misunderstood baddie who ultimately will do more good than damage … at least for now .
