While Dipper and Pacifica aretraversing Gravity Falls ' paranormal black markethunting a face - steal demon , a faceless Mabel ride in the dark at the Mystery Shack , see TV in the living elbow room , until she is cut off by Grunkle Stan who is incognizant of these oddities . When Grunkle Stan go into the room and ask Mabel if she ’s seen something he ’s looking for , Mabel plough her faceless head to recognize him before slowly drawing a giant , squiggly smile where her oral cavity should be . This scene is something straight out of a horror flick – and Grunkle Stan ’s chemical reaction is the thing that really sets it apart from the other scary elements of the series .
Grunkle Stan is so freaked out by the visual horror of a faceless Mabel drawing a lifeless smiling over her blank face that he reaches out to his brother , Grunkle Ford , who was out of the planetary house on a separate investigation at the fourth dimension . At this tip in the series , Stan and Ford are n’t on the better term as this story takes spot before their functionary reconciliationfollowing the Weirdmageddon consequence , so for Stan to ask Ford for aid means he must have been chilled to his essence – and if something is too scary for Grunkle Stan , it is unquestionably too scary for younger Disney XD viewer .
