Many X - Men have powers that allow them to live on circumstances which would stamp out any ordinary human;Wolverine and Deadpool can healfrom injuries , Colossus has brand tegument , etc . ButX - Men # 16repeats the worstX - Men : First Classmistake by kill Darwin : the one variation who perfectly can not be killed .
2011’sX - work force : First Classinjected newfangled life story into the laze 10 - Men motion-picture show dealership , moving the narrative into the past . Set in the sixties , the picture opens with Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr ( Magneto ’s old name before Max Eisenhardt ) gathering mutant from across the res publica for a CIA labor . One of those mutants is Armando Muñoz , better known as Darwin : the mutation with the big businessman to " adapt to survive . " Though he can not consciously verify his ability , Muñoz uses it to breathe underwater and withstand a blast from Havoc - but he can not outlive Sebastian Shaw releasing the stored energy of said blast direct into Darwin ’s body . Darwin becomes the first major variation to die in the film , and by extension the entireX - Menfilm enfranchisement .

InX - workforce # 16 , written by Gerry Duggan with art by Joshua Cassara , the mutant Forge journeys into the Vault - a monolithic bedchamber design to hold the radical - powerful Post - humankind . The Post - human race , currently put in a pretense in which they successfully conquered the universe , represent a massive peril to the Adam - Men and to the world ; Forge is on a mission to repair the Vault ’s faults , draw out the imprisoned mutant Darwin and retreat . But Darwin is nowhere to be found ; Laura Kinney is found in her place , and Darwin is presumed dead- kill by the Children of the Vault .
Marvel Kills The One Mutant Who Cannot Die - Again
The decision to kill Darwin in 2011 was a controversial one ; devotee were none too proud of that the mutation with the great power to " adapt to survive " was killed in such an anticlimactical manner . To make matters worse , Darwin - the only major black character on the team - was the first to croak , fulfilling a decades - honest-to-god stereotype . Darwin ’s death in the comics repeats this same mistake ( insofar as mutants can die post - Krakoa , consideringthey can resurrect any X - Men member they want ) , but there remains some hope that he did not , in fact , in reality die .
Darwin has demonstrated other powers besides strengthening his own body when under attack . When confronted withan attack from a rampaging Hulk , Darwin ’s body decide the best way to survive the fight was to be as far away from the competitiveness as possible - and teleport Darwin three states away . TheX - Men’smost mysterious member may yet be alive - but if he is n’t , Marvel has essentially be amiss the character for a second metre .
