TheEternalsare astoundingly tycoon , but they make very little sense in Marvel ’s universe , all thanks to their Celestial creators . The Eternals are even more powerful in the comics than they are in the MCU , and true to their name , are super difficult to defeat ( andeven dying do not matter to them ; they are immediately resurrected thanks to the Eternals ' great Machine inter in the Earth). But A.X.E : Judgment Day # 2suggests that the Celestials unintentionally allow a massive flaw in their creations , and it has everything to do with their Three Principles that point their every activity .
In current comics persistence , the Eternals are engaged in a bitter warfare with the X - hands on the island of Krakoa . Thanks tothe new rebootedX - Menfranchise , the mutant population of Earth can now resurrect from the dead with frightening ease ; the abilities of Cerebro , five unique variation and the unconditioned superpower of Krakoa intend no sport can truly die ( so long as the Resurrection Protocols and systems are in place ) . This information , once a secret , is now publicly known by all of humanity . They despise mutants now more than ever before - and the Eternals vow to defeat them .

InA.X.E : Judgment Day # 2 , written by Keiron Gillen with art by Valentino Schiti , the Eternals declare that the X - gentleman’s gentleman typify " excess deviation " , thus spark their third guiding principle . But their other two principles are not as consistent . When the Avengersled by Iron Man plan to destroy a Celestialwith the Eternals ' help , the Eternals remind them of their three principles : Correct Excess Deviation , Protect the Machine , and - perhaps the most important of all -Protect Celestials . “You should know that if you set off this plan,“warns Phastos"we willhaveto act to barricade it . Our Principles will drive us . “Phastos is correct ; the Eternals will not be able-bodied to resist their programming … but this computer programming is badly flawed .
The school principal of the Eternals appear to activate in a rather arbitrary fashion . compensate excess deviation , for model , is n’t a reflex - it ’s decided upon by Druigjust prior to theJudgment Daycrossover event(and he must win over the others to go along with his program ) . The principles make even less sense regarding the shelter of Celestials : should n’t the first rationale activate at the merethoughtof cheat the Progenitor , have alone discussing the plan to start with ? essay as they might , Marvel can not drive the Eternals to be beings of innocent will and unthinking automatons at the same time .
In late issue , the Eternals have acted more human than ever , expressing their reservations and even rebelling against each other ( Ikaris , for example , attacks other Eternalsto prevent the warfare with the X - work force ) . Still , the Three Principles guide each Eternal and preclude it from allying 100 % with humanity or mutantkind . TheEternalsmay count and look human , but their Three Principles bear witness otherwise ( even if they themselves make piddling mother wit in the instant ) .
