After former reports about Josh Brolin potentially joining theDC Universeas Hal Jordan inLanterns , his fate has been determined in James Gunn and Peter Safran ’s franchise . The Green Lantern Corps is coming to life-time inChapter 1 : " Gods and Monsters,“as HBO is developing aLanternsTV show . The DC play will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart , two of the most famous Green Lanterns in DC traditional knowledge , get them into the fold throughLanterns .
According toThe Hollywood Reporter , Brolin has formally passed on theLanternsrole offering , and he will not be signing on to play Hal in the HBO play . THRalso notes that the DC Studios TV show is currently looking to engage directors so thatfilming can commence in January next year in Atlanta , and wrapper in June 2025 . Further , the trade confirms that Matthew McConaughey , who was rumour to be one of DC ’s top pick after Brolin , will not bet the Green Lantern character .
What This Green Lantern Report Means For The DCU TV Show
Despite Brolin passing on the role , it does indeed affirm thattheLanternsTV showis looking to tap a big name for Hal . With HBO describe him as a"Lantern legend,“it make sense to hire a more established actor to have that presence and gravitas . In term of how self-aggrandizing of a Hollywood name they will cast for Hal inLanterns , that remains to be come across , but at least now the humankind can expect someone very familiar to play the role .
While Brolin is not conjoin theLanternscast as Hal Jordan , that does n’t intend he could n’t bring together the DC Universe down the line . Hal may not have been a role he was ultimately interested in , especially if the part is n’t meant to be around for as long as John , who will be show as younger in this incarnation . It would n’t be shameful if Brolin gets cast as a different DC wedge or villain in the future , especially since he is no unknown to the comic book picture genre , which DC Studios could easily capitalise on in the long test .
As of Sept. 3,Ewan McGregor was also rumored for Hal onLanterns .
If they are meant to take up filming as betimes as January 2025 , that means cast will need to be lock in before the end of December . Since the casting hunt has been ongoing forLanterns , it will definitely be challenging to see who they actually land on for both Hal and John . Hopefully , the handsome casting newsworthiness for both roles inLanternswill egress rather rather than later .
