Parks and Recreation
Parks & Recreationwon the interview over thanks to its sense of humour and its relatable characters , and one of its most pop ones is Ron Swanson , roleplay by Nick Offerman – but his part in the series was almost altogether different and would n’t have had the same warm receipt as the great Ron Swanson . Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur , Parks & Recreationtook viewers to the fictional townspeople of Pawnee , Indiana , to meet eternal optimist Leslie Knope ( Amy Poehler ) and her friends and coworkers from the Parks Department , with whom she went through a bunch of ups and down feather throughout seven seasons .
Through Leslie , viewers got to know her airless friends and coworkers quite well , with many of them becoming fan favorite , among them Ron Swanson , the film director of the Pawnee City Parks and Recreation Department and thus Leslie ’s genus Bos . Ron stood out for his hatred for the government(though he worked for it ) and for his deadpan personality , which was key in his special sensory faculty of humor . Nick Offerman perfectly work Ron Swanson to liveliness , but his role inParks & Recreationwas almost completely dissimilar as he was considered to play another character .

Nick Offerman Nearly Played Ann Perkins' Love Interest
Speaking toThe Guardianin 2019 , Nick Offerman give away he auditioned for the American adaptation ofThe Office , and though he was n’t stamp , Michael Schur write down his name and brought it up year later when developingParks & Recreation . Offerman excuse that NBC wanted him for a use in which he would have had to kiss Rashida Jones , but they did n’t cerebrate he was “ visually in that category ” – or , in Offerman ’s word in his bookPaddle Your Own Canoe : One Man ’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living , he was n’t “ handsome ” enough for the part , so he was mould as Leslie ’s boss instead .
The type Nick Offerman could have playedwas discover Josh , and he was written to be a love interest of Jones ’ Ann Perkins . Adam Scott also try out for the part but did n’t get it because , in his own words , he “ kind of squander it ” ( viaGQ ) , but he was finally throw as Ben Wyatt . The lineament of Josh kept changing until it became Mark Brendanawicz , played by Paul Schneider , Pawnee ’s city contriver and Leslie ’s crush who ended up see Ann Perkins inParks & Recreationseason 2 . However , Mark did n’t last long in the serial and go away at the end of season 2 after have a job with Norton Construction , and he was never mentioned again , which made way for some fun theories about what happened to him , but behind the scene , Schneider leave due to creative differences about his character .
Why Nick Offerman’s Original Parks & Rec Role Wouldn’t Work
Although Nick Offerman is very gifted and has raise that he can play a variety of character , it does n’t seem right to have him playing someone other than Ron Swanson inParks & Recreation . Offerman ’s comedic style gibe utterly with Ron Swanson ’s personality , and he managed to make an passing deadpan and unimaginative masculine character into one of the most likable people in all of Pawnee , and having play Josh would have been a wastefulness of his talents . It ’s also unsufferable to tell how much Josh would have change if Offerman had been cast and how unlike or standardised to Mark Brendanawicz he would have been , but he definitely would n’t have had the same encroachment that Ron Swanson had .
