The team travel to Omnipotence City to warn the other gods and also ask for their aid in creating an United States Army , but it did n’t go as planned as the leader of the graven image , Zeus ( Russell Crowe ) , refuse to help them , leading to a confrontation in which Thor ended up repeating hisInfinity WarThanos mistake , as he once more did n’t go for the head when fighting Zeus .

How Zeus Is Still Alive & What It Means For Thor’s Future
In the MCU , Zeus is the queen of the Olympiansand the leader of the gods , which is why Thor wanted to talk to him about Gorr and how they could defeat him if they helped each other . Unfortunately for Thor , Zeus had gone from a noble and courageous warrior to an chesty and selfish god who only cared about his own pleasures , and he show no business concern about Gorr ’s murders and threats . This lead to a confrontation between Thor and Zeus , in which Zeus throw his Thunderbolt at Thor , but the latter caught it , charged it with lightning , and throw it back , empale Zeus through the bureau . However , in typical MCU fashion , this was n’t the conclusion for Zeus , and themid - credits view ofLove & Thunderrevealed he survived and is now ready for revenge .
As Zeus is a god , he not only has superhuman abilities , but he can also cure from wound that would be fatal for other characters , thus why he survive being impale by his own weapon system , though he was truly afraid of the Necrosword as that ’s the one weapon system that can truly kill Supreme Being . Another crucial feature of Zeus is his immortality , hence why he could n’t have been killed by Thunderbolt or any other arm away from the Necrosword . However , this does n’t mean that Zeus is n’t a vengeful god , and as go through in the mid - credits scenery ofLove & Thunder , he has already prepared his revenge and senthis son , Hercules ( Brett Goldstein ) , to shoot down the God of Thunder .
Thor Still Needs To Learn From His Infinity War Mistakes
One of , if not the most infamous minute in Thor ’s MCU story so far is how he break down to “ go for the head ” when he had the prospect to kill Thanos inAvengers : Infinity War , instead stabbing him on the chest with Stormbreaker . This allowed Thanos to snap his fingers and pass over away one-half of life in the universe , sending Thor into a mystifying depression for many years . Thor : Love & Thundersaw Thor healing and rule himself , but his battle against Zeus shows that he still has n’t amply see from hisInfinity Warmistakes , as he , once again , went for the chest alternatively of the head .
