Vikingssaw its characters go through many ups and down in their personal spirit , and for Floki , one of his most ambitious moments happened in season 5 , when he ascertain a cross in a cave – but why did he find that there?Vikingscovered the first year of the Viking Age , beginning with the Lindisfarne maraud ( demo in time of year 1 ) , and so it saw its independent characters fight many conflict , mourn many deaths , and go through a dyad of personal crises , whether related to their partners , families , or to their trust .
During its first four seasons , Vikingswas led bylegendary Norse figure Ragnar Lothbrok(Travis Fimmel ) , and through him , the hearing met some of the the great unwashed snug to him and who went on to become fan favorites . Among them was Floki ( Gustaf Skarsgård ) , Kattegat ’s boatbuilder and incorrigible cut-up , who was also Ragnar ’s best friend . Floki was fiercely loyal to the Norse God and did his best to please them and not anger them , but he went through a crisis of faith when he find a cross inside a cave ( which was inside an erupting volcano ) , when he thought that position would lead him to Helheim , Norse ’s hell – and there are a couple of understanding of why Floki found a crossbreed in that cave .

Was The Cross Floki Found In The Cave Real?
InVikingsseason 5 , Floki discovered Iceland , which he believed to be Asgard , so he lay down himself there . Unfortunately , his settlement began to lento fall apart , with its inhabitants taking retaliation on one another and creating a residential area of hatred . Disappointed and deter , Floki journey all by himself into a cave he believed was a gate to Helheim , but once there , he found a Christian cross – and some think the cross was n’t tangible .
The scene where Floki finds the mark and becomes entrap in the cave as the volcano erupt has been read as a visual sense the flaky Viking had . Floki was believed to be the next Seeror to at least have had abilities like the Seer ’s , so ascertain the cross might have been a visual sense of the triumph of Christianity over the Norse gods . The most vulgar ( and obvious ) explanation , however , is that Loki ’s newfound ground was n’t unexplored as he thought , and Christians had already been there for a while , so much so that they left a cross inside a cave . This , of course , was yet another punch for Floki , who was already deal with the bankruptcy of his settlement and was now given proof that everything he thought about his Modern habitation was a prevarication .
Vikings Was The Beginning Of The Pagans & Christians Conflict
As mentioned above , Vikingscovered the first years of the Viking Age , and as such , there are many conflicts and events that were n’t shown in the serial ’ six seasons . However , the continuation series , Vikings : Valhalla , set over a century after the events ofVikings , has covered some of the most notable conflicts from the Viking era , including that between Christians and Pagans . Valhallasees Viking warriors who are still loyal to the Norse religion and Vikings who have turned to Christianity , so if Floki truly had abilities like those of the Seer and the crown of thorns was a vision , he had a very accurate one of how Christianity would eventually take over and bequeath Norse religion behind .
